Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor
Goodreads Synopsis :
Sarai has lived and breathed nightmares since she was six years old.
She believed she knew every horror and was beyond surprise.
She was wrong.
In the wake of tragedy, neither Lazlo nor Sarai are who they were before. One a god, the other a ghost, they struggle to grasp the new boundaries of their selves as dark-minded Minya holds them hostage, intent on vengeance against Weep.
Lazlo faces an unthinkable choice—save the woman he loves, or everyone else?—while Sarai feels more helpless than ever. But is she? Sometimes, only the direst need can teach us our own depths, and Sarai, the Muse of Nightmares, has not yet discovered what she's capable of.
As humans and godspawn reel in the aftermath of the citadel's near fall, a new foe shatters their fragile hopes, and the mysteries of the Mesarthim are resurrected: Where did the gods come from, and why? What was done with thousands of children born in the citadel nursery? And most important of all, as forgotten doors are opened and new worlds revealed: Must heroes always slay monsters, or is it possible to save them instead?
Love and hate, revenge and redemption, destruction and salvation all clash in this astonishing and heart-stopping sequel to the New York Times bestseller, Strange the Dreamer.
My Review :
This book is a tapestry of wonder. I read Strange The Dreamer and immediately went on to read the next book in the duology.
And oh my god.
This book is absolute perfection. I ate up every word in that book like a madwoman. Laini Taylor has done such an amazing job, this book still has me reeling with the vast array of emotions that I went through while reading this book.
Now let's get to the characters.
Thyon Nero's character has so many dimensions to it, and watching it get revealed and him realising and being the person who he never thought he expected himself to be was so much good to see.
I wanted more Eril Fane and Azareen and I definitely got it, to my absolute devastation but also happiness. Damnation. They are so perfect for each other like the two broken pieces in a puzzle and covering for each other.
Suheyla also became one of my favourite characters. I love her so much. She is just amazing.
And the back story of Kora and Nova just shattered me to death. I hate Skathis with renewed hatred(it didn't make sense). I hate Isagol.
I loved Calixte, Ruza, Ruby, Sparrow, Feral and goddamn everyone in this book.
Lazlo and Sarai still remain one of my favourites. I treasured their moments and oh my god.
Minya. Darling Minya. I cried so much for her and watching her character develop, from just being bent on revenge, to being alive was so heartbreakingly beautiful.
The best thing about every book by Laini Taylor is that it is a sucking vortex of devastation, pain, happiness and delight. I was completely in another world, I couldn't began to fathom the stretched limits of my imagination that Taylor's writing have brought.
Thank you so much.
